10 Ways to Make Your New Year More Fulfilling

It’s almost the new year! I hope everyone has a great time getting ready to bring in 2017 with friends and loved ones (or just by relaxing at home enjoying a nice glass of wine and going to sleep).

While a lot of people are planning to live out their resolutions and new found attitudes, I’m focused on making this year more fulfilling. I want to create opportunities for myself, travel more and enjoy the simple things in life, because let’s face it, life is too short to spend it doing something you don’t love. Here are 10 ways to bring more fulfillment into your life this  upcoming year!

1. Write Down Goals

If you may have noticed by now, I’m a big advocate for goal-making. Buy yourself a planner or a cute stationery and put those goals on paper.

2. Be Fit, Live Well

It is super easy to fall off the bandwagon of being healthy, but try to stay consistent in taking care of your physical health. You don’t have to join a gym to do this. Pop in a yoga or pilates DVD and make time for yourself and your body.

3. Plan a Vacation

Planning a vacation gives you something to look forward to. A break from reality if you will. By planning ahead and saving up, a yearly vacation is certainly a must.

4. Watch Interesting Documentaries

You already binge-watch Netflix, so why not watch some of those interesting documentaries. Every time I watch a documentary or biography, I find myself more creatively focused and interested in learning more things.

5. Read Interesting Books

This is something I personally want to achieve. All the great successful people of the world say reading is key, so it must have some truth to it right? When you read more, you know more.

6. Attend a Networking Event / Conference

Meeting new people is always fulfilling. You’ll never know who you can make a connection with, whether that be on a business standpoint, or a new friendship. Also, attending conferences in your field of interest can help you learn more by meeting and engaging with experts and like-minded people.

7. Engage in Your Community

Would you believe many people don’t even know much about the community they live in (I’m one of those people). By volunteering, attending meet-ups, shopping local, joining organizations and more, you could make a difference and be more in-tune to your environment.

8. Have a Creative Outlet

Having a creative outlet is important, especially for us working folks. It can be easy to get wrapped up in going to work, coming home, and repeat. This is why having a hobby is good for the soul. What are your interests? Make time for them!

9. Have a Budget

Having a budget can lead to a more fulfilling life because it allows you to know what you should and shouldn’t be spending your money on. Budgeting also allows for saving up for the things you desire.

10. Treat Yourself

At the end of the day, we need to reward ourselves for the hard work we put in everyday. Treating yourself could mean booking a bi-weekly massage, going out to eat, or going on that vacation we mentioned earlier!

I hope everyone has a great start to the new year! What are some ways you keep your life fulfilled?

  • I think the creative outlet point resonated with me – if I didn’t have my blog as an outlook I would probably go crazy!

By the way, this is the first time I’ve had a proper browse here and I love what you’re doing with your blog! 🙂

    • Thank you for reading Kemi! I’m glad you could relate. Having some sort of outlet is so important. For the few months I stopped blogging I felt so blahh lol!

  • Absolutely agree with number one (not that I don’t agree with the others but this one is my fave lool), having a notebook/journal to write stuff down, in my opinion just keeps you motivated and I’m obsessed with stationary x

    • Yes!! I love journaling and writing out my plans. And cute stationary helps with that as well :)! Thank you for reading, Ife.
