4 Ways to Combat Your Excuses

We have all been there before. It’s not time yet. I don’t think I’m ready. I need to get everything together first. These, my friend, are words of not knowing when it’s the right time to do what you really want to do. But I have a question: when are we really ever going to be ready for anything that life may throw at us?

I know what it’s like to put something off. It may be fear stopping you. It may be the judgement of people around you that is holding you back. Or you really could just be standing in your own way. The truth is, when it comes to putting something off, it’s often that very thing that will change our lives forever. This could be developing a relationship with God. Developing that business you always wanted to start. Moving to the city you’ve always dreamed of. Whatever the case may be, we will never be fully prepared.

Weigh your options

What’s the worst that can happen? What’s the best that can happen? Either way, you will never know if you don’t try.

I’m all for trying things and if failure is what comes of it, that’s more reason to get back up and move on. Life is never going to be one-track. The more things you try, the more development you gain and the more it pushes you into your true calling.

Be realistic

It’s ok to have huge dreams, just be realistic with yourself. Look at the baby steps before you look at the whole picture otherwise you will easily get discouraged.

Leave the comparisons at the door

It is so easy to get caught up in what the next person is doing, but you will never know the struggles it took that person to get where they are.

As they say, comparison is the thief of joy. Stay inspired, but never be discouraged by the milestones of someone else.

Less talk, more action

I’ll end on this note. If you want to do something, go for it. Life is too short to spend time preparing, researching and talking. While those are all essential things to do, make sure you’re putting in some action.
